The band became famous without any airplay from the regular music television channels like MTV, instead marketing directly to children via children- and cartoon channels. Their signature is that the girls in the group all three mostly wear the same outfit. The band is known as one of Europe's longest running girl band. On the 6th of november 2015 Hanne Verbruggen, Klaasje Meijer en Marthe De Pillecyn were chosen as the new K3 after Karen, Josje and Kristel decided to quit after 17 years. On May 8 2016 Karen Damen and Kristel Verbeke gave their last show after 17 years and Josje Huisman after 6 Years at the Lotto Arena Antwerpen In February of 2021, Klaasje Meijer announced she would be leaving the group. In March 2025 the original K3 consisting of Karen Damen, Kristel Verbeke and Kathleen Aert announced a series of reunion concerts through Belgium and The Netherlands.
